In order for your flowers to look as fresh as possible they will need some attention. If your bouquet has been out of water for around 1 hour they will need the stems to be cut and quickly be put into fresh water and you’ll see them perk up within the first hour or so. Here we share some tips to make them look their best.
For wrapped bouquets
- Find an appropriate sized container/vase and wash it well to avoid bacteria growth. Fill it two-thirds with fresh lukewarm water.
- Add your flower food. A general rule is for every 1/2 liter of water add 3.5 grams of flower food.
- Before adding the flowers to the water, remove any foliage/leaves from the bottom to avoid them touching the water. This prevents the water from getting slimier quicker.
- The paper we wrapped it in can be left or removed to your liking, but avoid them touching the water to prevent the stems from sliming with time.
- Then cut off around 2 cm from the ends of the stems in a 45 degree angle. You will see the ends white which means the stem will drink the water much better.
- Do not leave the freshly cut flowers out too long before putting in water. Air could start to seal the ends again quickly.
- After the flowers are placed in the water check for extra foliage touching the water and remove them. Any petals that looked discolored remove them. These are also called guard petals that helped protect the inner part of the flower.
- If you need a flower to open or bloom quickly, set your flowers in warm water, near the sun and remove as many leaves possible, otherwise keep in a cool area to help them last longer.
- Change water every 2-3 days and cut again the ends of the stems. Washing away all the slime and debris to help flower drink the water properly. Don’t forget to add more flower food.

Flower arrangements made in floral foam can be cared for easily but there are some tricks. Watering daily may be the most important part but here are some tips to help keep your arrangement look best for longer.

For flowers arranged in floral foam
- All of our arrangements made in foam need to be watered daily.
- If it is a one view arrangement, look in the bottom back. Look for a foam area in between the greens. Slowly pour the water but try to pour it over a sink to avoid spills.
- If it is a box or basket arrangement, look for foam in the bottom corners or center. You may need to remove one or two flowers. Slowly pour water until it reaches the surface of the foam without spilling.
- If it is a carton paper box arrangement, be extra careful. Remove 2-4 flowers until you see the foam clearly. Slowly add water BEFORE it reaches the surface. Any water that touches the box can damage it.
- Any arrangement made by us already has flower food. Mix the flower food with water before pouring into arrangement on the 2nd or 3rd day. A general rule is for every 1/2 liter of water add 3.5 grams of flower food.
- Leave in a cool area away from the direct sunlight to help them last longer.
- On the 2nd or 3rd day, you can remove flowers one by one and cut off around 2 cm from the ends of the stems at a 45 degree angle. You will see the ends white which means water will flow better. Return it to its place right away. This is important if you want your flowers to bloom longer.
